How do I make reservations?
Reservations can be made online through the INSTABOOK program or by contacting Casa Kootenay directly by email or telephone. To make a reservation request, please provide your preferred dates, number of guests, and any special preferences. The Booking page is available for convenient online reservations.
Casa Kootenay is a welcoming waterfront bed and breakfast where guests can enjoy the beauty and relaxed atmosphere of La Paz. Assistance is available through the website, email, Facebook, and WhatsApp to help make planning and booking your stay as easy as possible.
What other activities are available?
La Paz offers a wide variety of outdoor and adventure activities. Guests can receive assistance connecting with experienced local adventure operators and researching options that fit their interests and schedule.
Whether you are interested in diving, paddling, boating, wildlife, sightseeing, or other local experiences, help is available to make arranging activities simple and stress-free.
Is the kitchen available for my usage?
An outside kitchen is available for guest use. The inside kitchen is reserved for preparing and serving breakfast.
Does anything change during hurricane season?
Casa Kootenay remains open during hurricane season, with measures in place to help keep guests comfortable if a storm occurs.
For safety and seasonal conditions, the rooftop terrace shade and outside bed are removed during hurricane season.
What are your rates?
Rates are per room per night and are based on double occupancy. Third and fourth occupants are subject to an additional charge per person.

Room rates include use of the available water sports equipment for registered guests staying at Casa Kootenay.
A valid credit card is required for use of water sports equipment as security against damage or loss.
Do your rates include taxes?
The following taxes and fees are included in the standard room rates:
IVA 16%, ISH 3%, ISN 3% and processing fees, service fees, credit card fees and currency conversion fees 3%
These amounts are included in the advertised room rates so guests can see the full standard accommodation cost.
Is there a charge for water sports equipment?
Kayaks, windsurfing equipment, and paddleboards are available for guests to enjoy at no additional charge. Water sports equipment is included in the room rate.
A valid credit card is required when equipment is issued as security against theft or damage.
Where is Casa Kootenay located?
Casa Kootenay is located directly on the beach south of the La Paz town center and Malecón. The waterfront location provides easy access to the bay while remaining only a short walk or taxi ride from restaurants, shops, and attractions along the Malecón.

When I can check in?
Check-in is after 2:00pm. It is a self access checkin. You are supplied the entry code on your day of arrival and you must know the name of the room you reserved which is found on your reservation. Hostess meets you at first breakfast and will complete checkin and orientation.
Airport transportation is not included but we can offer options so you can arrange transport.

Can you pick us up from the airport?
Airport transfers options are offered for either La Paz Airport or Cabo San Lucas Airport. Advance arrangements are required, so please schedule your transportation before arrival.

When is checkout?
Check-out time is 11:00am. Simply leave the key in the room when departing.
Late check-outs cannot be accomodated.

How do I cancel a reservation?
When a room is reserved at Casa Kootenay, that room is held specifically for the guest. As a small bed and breakfast in a resort community where guests often book well in advance, adequate notice is important because it can be difficult to re-book a room at short notice.
A cancellation number must be provided when a reservation is cancelled. If a cancellation number has not been received, the reservation has not been officially cancelled.
Cancellation policies vary depending on the booking agent. Reservations made directly through Casa Kootenay are subject to the following policy:
All 50% prepaid deposits are non-refundable.
If a reservation is cancelled three weeks or more before the arrival date, the final 50% price of the reservation will be returned.
Refunds do not include paid taxes or wire fees.
If the accommodations do not meet your expectations after arrival, every effort will be made to assist you in finding a suitable alternative. Any costs associated with alternative accommodations, transportation, or other arrangements will be the guest’s responsibility, and no refund will be issued by Casa Kootenay.
Reservations made through booking agents are subject to the cancellation policies shown by the individual booking agent.
What is the best way to contact you?
Every email receives a response. If a reply has not been received within 8 hours, please telephone, as the email may not have been received.
Important matters such as reservation changes or cancellations are best handled by telephone to ensure that the request is received and processed promptly.

Do you have air conditioning?
Yes. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, and the architectural design of Casa Kootenay also takes advantage of the natural ocean breeze.
For energy conservation, please turn off the air conditioning when leaving the room or when the door is open. Housekeeping will turn off the air conditioning when guests are not on the premises.
Can you accommodate special diets and breakfast orders?
We ask for restrictions and allergies to be written on blackboard for chef prior to first breakfast. We accomdate allergies and restrictions. We do not make breakfast to order. There is a variety of breakfast options available.
Coffee is available from 7:30 am, with homemade breakfast served daily at 8:30am.
Breakfast begins with coffee, juices, fruit, yogurt, and cereal. A homemade hot breakfast may include items such as fresh homemade muffins or loaves, toast with spreads, yogurt, cereals, French toast, waffles, eggs, Italian sausage, chorizo, bacon, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and more.
Drink options include coffee, tea, juice, milk, or water.
Because Casa Kootenay is a small establishment, individual breakfast orders cannot be accommodated. Guests with special dietary needs or allergies are encouraged to advise Casa Kootenay in advance, and every effort will be made to accommodate them.
There is an outside kitchen available 24/7, if you wish to skip breakfast menu and prepare what you like.
Can I bring my own alcoholic beverages?
Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages to enjoy on the property. Casa Kootenay is a relaxed vacation environment, and guests are expected to respect the comfort and privacy of others.
Rowdy, violent, or disrespectful behavior is not permitted. Such behavior may result in removal from the property, with police assistance if necessary, without a refund.
Do you have smoking rooms?
Casa Kootenay is a non-smoking property, including the guest rooms, main house, and deck.
Smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the garden and on the beach.
Do you allow pets?
Pets belonging to guests cannot be accommodated.
Please note that pets live on the property.
Can I use the beach and watersports equipment if I’m not staying at Casa Kootenay?
No, but we would love to host you one day
Can I bring friends in as day guests?
Guests are welcome to invite friends to enjoy Casa Kootenay during the day.
Breakfast and overnight accommodation are not included. Day guests must remain accompanied by the registered guest. We can offer a paid breakfast for your friend when circumstances allow, please consult the manager.
Where can we park our vehicle?
Ample street parking is available directly in front of the bed and breakfast.
Secure or gated parking is not available. Vehicles are parked at the owner's risk, and Casa Kootenay cannot be responsible for theft or damage.
Tell me about housekeeping and laundry?
Rooms are freshened between 8:30am and 12:00pm. Towels are refreshed when found on the floor. Sheets are refreshed after the 5th night. The cleaner locks the door and turns off A/C when leaving the cleaned room.
Laundry is available closeby.
When are pools available?
The pools are available for guest use at any time.
For the comfort and cleanliness of all guests, please shower before entering the pool to remove sand and lotions.
Guests are welcome to use these facilities at their own discretion and should notify the hostess if any problems occur. The pool are cleaned twice aweekly.
What about cell phones?
To help maintain a peaceful environment and respect the privacy of other guests, please limit cell phone use in shared areas and use your room for phone calls when possible.
Yikes! I forgot something…
If something was forgotten or an item is needed during your stay, please let the hostess know. Everyday essentials such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, and similar items may be available to help make your stay more comfortable.
Can I just drop by?
Casa Kootenay is a private waterfront bed and breakfast rather than a traditional commercial hotel. Guests are welcome to inquire about availability or make a last-minute reservation, but advance contact is recommended to ensure someone is available to assist you.
